Prof. Dr. Mark Ebers hat in seiner Geburtsstadt Hamburg Betriebswirtschaftslehre studiert. Nach seinem Abschluss als Diplom-Kaufmann wechselte er an die Universität Mannheim, wo er zunächst als wissenschaftlicher Angestellter am Lehrstuhl für Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre und Organisation, Prof. Dr. Alfred Kieser tätig war und nach der Promotion Hochschulassistent an der Fakultät für Betriebswirtschaft. 1989/90 erhielt er ein Stipendium als John F. Kennedy Memorial-Fellow der Harvard University Cambridge, Mass., welches es ihm ermöglichte, dort ein Jahr zu forschen. 1993 wurde Professor Ebers an der Universität Mannheim habilitiert. In den Jahren 1992 und 1993 hat er zunächst den Lehrstuhl für Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre, insbesondere Organisation an der Universität-GHS Paderborn cum spe vertreten. Von 1994 bis 2004 war Professor Ebers Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Schwerpunkt Unternehmensführung und Organisation an der Universität Augsburg. Während dieser Zeit erhielt er Rufe an die Europa-Universität Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, die Universität Witten/Herdecke sowie die Universität St. Gallen. Er nahm Gastprofessuren an der Universitá Luigi Bocconi, Mailand (1996), Harvard University (1997), Harvard Business School (2002), Tilburg University (2004), Columbia University (2008) wahr. Er wurde überdies als AIM International Visiting Fellow an der University of Strathclyde (2005) und Fellow des Institute for Advanced Studies der Hebrew University Jerusalem (2012) berufen. Seit dem 01.10.2004 ist Professor Ebers Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Allgemeine Betriebswirtschaftslehre, Unternehmenswicklung und Organisation an der Universität zu Köln.
